Fenix – From Fire to Earth

This project is International Youth Exchange supported from program “Youth in Action”. It  takes place in Prenčov – village in region of Banská Štiavnica from 30.07.2012 till 20.08.2012.

The most important topics of this exchange are: ecology, art and culture. During 21 days of planned activities we will share our knowledge about ecology and ecological way of living and thinking. We see the need for change, what people thing about ecology and what kind of actions they are taking in this topic.
The idea was born after 2 successfully carried out youth exchanges (“Lost Fire” and “Never Ending Fire”) when the main idea was searching for cultural identity, in order to explore and bring closer common Slavic roots. The FIRE was there for us as a symbol of internal inflammation for the maintenance and development of cultural values and traditions that we inherited from our ancestors. We found out that ecological way of living was for our ancestors not only something natural but also necessary.


That is why we decided to go “From Fire to Earth” - like Fenix (symbol of rebirth), give a seed with this ideas to the ground to inspire another young generations.
We want to promote ecology mainly in common daily live, but also using artistic way of speaking, through crafts, theater, circus, dances or others.
We know that we have to start in the local ground, local environment according to the sentence “think global, act local”, but we want to spread this attitude, share our ideas and learn from other countries.
As active citizens we know that we are creating common future!

Example of planned activities:
 Eco-building (wood, stone, clay, straw)
 Reconstruction of the historical house with old traditional technologies,
 Treasure hunt of the folklore patterns - will be use to decorate the house
 Ecology actions (for example cleaning the river)
 Movement, Folklore, Dances, Circus workshops
 Pottery workshop
 Recycling workshop – how to reuse materials, for different things: eco-furniture, eco music band
 National evenings
 Trips to the nature (lakes, mountains)
 Basic of survival
 And others
